What the Lightwalker Laser Can Do For You
- Posted on: Mar 14 2021
If you really think about it, lasers are incredible things. Using a beam of light, we can scan bar codes, remove body hair by killing it at the roots, and even treat some conditions like receding gums. But lasers can also be used to help improve some skincare issues, too.
Dr. Peterson’s office uses the Lightwalker laser to improve several common issues your skin may have. This is done by using a process called neocollagenisis, which occurs when the light energy penetrates the outer layer of skin, converting it to heat energy. The receptors in your skin notice the heat, and react as though they are responding to trauma (despite there being no wound or trauma to the skin). When the skin begins to heal, the collagen is regenerated.
Collagen is an important part of our skin, responsible for the volume and tightness of the skin. Unfortunately, as we get older our collagen production slows down. By fifty, our collagen production drops by about 30 percent, causing the skin to sag or droop, lose volume, and become wrinkled or lined.
Do you have lines and wrinkles around your mouth and chin? Do you have sagging skin in this area? The Smoothlase can help! Using lasers, we can regenerate the collagen and promote firmer, tighter skin on the lower face.
Nightlase is an innovative laser solution to sleep apnea snoring. In this application, the Nightlase laser is used on the tissues in the back of the mouth. Because these tissues may vibrate and sag during the night, they may cause snoring, or even obstructive sleep apnea. The Nightlase laser heats the tissues of the airway, remodeling and contracting the collagen. This can immediately reduce snoring by 50 percent, allowing for a restful night’s sleep.
Ever heard of collagen injections to the lips? Liplase works differently, using a laser to regenerate the collagen in the lips. This creates similar results to lip injections, but without the needles!
Smootheye is great for getting you the undereye results you desire. Do you have puffy under eyes, undereye bags, or even dark circles under the eyes? Smootheye is a great solution to these problems. It uses laser technology to contract the collagen under your eyes, keeping the eyes looking smooth and youthful.
