"I never expected that I would be a person who would have all the old silver fillings removed from my back teeth, and all my gold crowns replaced with bonded porcelain ones. I had some immediate problems that needed to be fixed, like a big hole in an old gold crown, and when Dr. Johnson proposed redoing all my back teeth at once to last a “lifetime,” at first I thought that I didn’t really need that, so I didn’t do anything at all for a long time. But as time passed, I became more aware that I was babying several teeth and I had a vague sense of foreboding that I had some dental emergencies in the making. So I decided to make the leap and have them all done. Even though all my back teeth are beautiful now, it’s not as if anyone can see them. But I know that they’re back there – and that they’re healthy and that they feel great. Actually they don’t feel like anything at all now, which has helped me realize how much pain I had gotten used to living with. When I would eat or drink various things or just at random I used to have all these sensations from my teeth, but now that’s all gone. Now they don’t feel like anything at all no matter what I eat or drink, just like when they were new teeth when I was a kid. And that has brought me much more peace of mind than I would ever have imagined."
